Heather was one week over due they gave us an induction day of Monday 4/11 so I m going to give you the 411 for my wife. The doctors called it a medical anomaly, but we all know who's in charge. I wonder what if we had not been at Loma Linda Medical Center. Many people in the maternity ward at Loma linda Medical said they have never seen anything like it. One doctor who said he didn't have a faith at first commented after saying it was Divine intervention.
So here is how it all came down no pun intended. Oh how lovely was the morning...at the SDA hospital were were greeted with a wonderful painting directly across from the bed where she was supposed to deliver.
We arrived at the Hospital a 6 am for the induction. Having gone though one with our son Daniel our first, we hunkered down for a long process. Heather received an epidural at about 3 cm dilated whooo during lunch. At about 4:00 the nurses checked to find she was at 6cm the female doc came in an broke the water for which she said "sorry". I guess some people like it natural. After that they couldn't get a good read on the heart monitoring of the baby so had to do internal monitoring. At this point they were monitoring the heart rate and coming in to check about every 20 mins. At about 4:45 the nurse and a doctor came in as they noticed the heart rate fluctuating. The nurses told the doctor they had just checked 5 mins before. They adjusted the monitor and it seemed everything was fine. The doctor and nurse were moving toward the door to leave and I watched the thought come over the doctor it was like I watched the thought to check her again go into his brain (slow motion style). Intuition/inspiration. had he not done that we would definitely have a different outcome. He turned back grabbed some gloves and said Im going to check real quick. Then he yelled "I have cord"! Within 10 seconds 8 people rushed into the room and I watched the lights in our room and out in the main entrance go dark with the exception of a lighted path for the staff to follow to the OR and alert the people in the hallway to stay clear. They unplugged all the connections within about 30 secs and were wheeling her to the operating room for an emergency C section. The doctor that checked her jumped on the gurney and was maintaining the position of the babys head as to prevent the baby from putting pressure on the cord in the cervex. One nurse yelled back to me we "will come back for you". So I was left standing in the delivery room by my self. Heather and I had peace come over us and I recalled that everything would be normal despite some complexity's that were promised in a priesthood blessing a week prior. The nurses and doctors would later say to Heather that she spoke with calmness and that gave them confidence and comforted them as well during the chaos as they were asking her if she knew what was going on. Rushing down the hallway heather saw the lights passing by rapidly overhead. While in the OR teams of people were preparing for the worst and to attend to mother and baby after birth. They numbed her from the neck down and were about to put her under and cut into her when the doctor said the "WAIT" i don't feel the cord. One of the nurses said that it was if a hand stopped them. Another doctor came over to check and noticed as well no cord it miraculously went back in and she was at 10 cm and the doc shouted we are doing a normal delivery. Heather said, there was a hush in the room and everyone knew something Devine had occurred. She then said get my husband. I recall the anxious nurse, that was informing me of the circumstances, asking if I was ok. I said I have a good feeling everything will be fine, thanks to the H.G. She came back and said ok it's going to be a normal delivery that I could be with her. Shortly after I was able to come into the room with cap and gown and mask. And although i looked like everyone else of the 18 or so other people in the small Operating room I grabbed her hand and whispered in her ear "I'm here". To everyones amazement Heather was able to push despite absolutely no feeling or pressure she said she had to look to see if her body was still attached.
Adam Russell Williams a beautiful baby boy 8lb. 10 oz 21.5 inches came into the world at 4:52 pm. Her nurse said she doesn't know how she was able to do it. Baby and Mom were great all vitals checked out for both. We were visited by many people over the next couple of days in the maternity ward as news spread quickly. Heathers nurse said she was her hero. Heather had headaches for a couple of days after due to the CSF (central spinal fluid) leaking from the epidural issues. They did a blood patch and resolved the ever constant migraine headaches within an hour. 3 days later Mom and baby are home and doing great.
We are so grateful to have another beautiful son to grace our growing family and grateful for the hands that were prepared to help deliver and especially blessed to have a loving Heavenly Father with us to accomplish all this.
